The Observatory in Estudos Visuais e Arqueologia dos Média is based on the necessity to discuss themes and topics related with the research of the PhD students in visual studies of the ICNOVA - Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. The Observatory aims to develop and share research, as well as scientific and/or artistic works with the academic community and other interested people. To achieve this goal, we plan a program that includes conferences and talks with artists and specialists in visual studies.  

Ana Luísa Azevedo, born in 1990 in Porto (Portugal), is a PhD Research Fellow in “Communication Sciences - Cinema and Television” at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa - FCSH/UNL (Portugal). She holds an Undergraduate Degree in “Communication Sciences – Journalism” (2011) from Universidade do Minho (Portugal) and a Master's Degree in Communication Sciences - Contemporary Culture and New Technologies” from FCSH/UNL.

She has previously worked as press officer and as producer in several organizations, as Centro Cultural de Belém. She also co-organized the short course “Photography Basics” at FCSH/UNL.
