The Observatory in Estudos Visuais e Arqueologia dos Média is based on the necessity to discuss themes and topics related with the research of the PhD students in visual studies of the ICNOVA - Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. The Observatory aims to develop and share research, as well as scientific and/or artistic works with the academic community and other interested people. To achieve this goal, we plan a program that includes conferences and talks with artists and specialists in visual studies.  

Maura Grimaldi (1988, Brazil) is an artist and researcher in the doctoral program at the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa - FCSH/UNL (Portugal) and holds a master's degree in Visual Arts from the University of São Paulo (Brazil). Among her main projects: in 2017, PIMASP at the São Paulo Art Museum (MASP), and the HANGAR residence in Lisbon; in 2016, the VI Pampulha’s Grant at the Pampulha Art Museum in Belo Horizonte (Brazil); in 2015, the 11th Artistic Residence of Red Bull Station (Brazil); in 2013, the residence at the École Supérieure des beaux-arts in Tours (France); and in 2012, the exhibition "Corners" in the Museum of Contemporary Art of São Paulo.
